Walking Holidays and Nordic Walking Holidays

Head for the Hills!

About Suzanne, Nordic Walking Instructor:

I have been a keen Nordic Walker for a few years now and in May 2009 I became a qualified Nordic Walking instructor. I did this because I love Nordic walking so much, I wanted to be able to perfect my technique and to be able to teach others. Its such a great way to exercise, enhances the walking experience giving you a total workout outdoors. I want to pass my enthusiasm on to others. I am lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful walking areas in the country but you can Nordic walk anywhere. Why walk when you can Nordic walk!

About Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking was developed in Finland as a way for exercising the cross country skiers in the summer months. The pole technique, once mastered enables you to burn up to 50% more calories than regular walking whilst making walking easier and faster. The poles propel you along and also take the strain off knee and hip joints. 90% of the bodies muscles are used, posture is significantly improved and the combination of adrenalin and fresh air improve stress levels drastically. Getting a total body workout outdoors couldnt be easier or more enjoyable.

Walking near Knighton

Walk Glyndwr's Way or the ancient Offa's Dyke along the borders of England and Wales, with its rolling hills and green valleys. Visit the pretty village of Clun or Presteigne and the market town of Knighton along the way, perhaps calling in at a local hostelry.

On days when the walking distance would be more than 7 miles (11kms), and when no public transportation is available, a taxi rendezvous can be arranged at no additional cost, giving you the choice of walking or driving the second half.
